Harlequin - Medium - Adult - Male - Rabbit - Ringo
Available with Shortie Update 07/22/09 Good things happen to those who wait! Shortie, who has needed a lot of support from her foster family to help her overcome past negative human experiences, seemed to be lonely. Enter Ringo, who happens to be the longest resident in the Small AnimalRoom. They became immediate friends and are now a bonded pair; they must be adopted together. Update 4/10/09: Have you met Ringo? He's been waiting a long time to meet you! Poor Ringo got in trouble for doing what bunnies do: make more bunnies. His previous owners thought they had all females, and discovered the hard way that Ringo was not female! Ringo arrived at ARL in late July of 08, with two pregnant ladies in tow. Only 2 of the babies have been adopted. Ringo was neutered not long after he arrived, and was even adopted a little while ago, but his new owner became allergic and he had to come back. He has become a volunteer favorite; he will sit at attention at the door of his cage, waiting for the first human to arrive in the morning and greet him. He has perfected the guilty pout and will sulk in a corner until you give in and say hello with a scratch to the head! He'll also use this pout to gain access to his favorite activity: bunny hops on the floor. Ringo owns whatever surface he finds, and it is not uncommon to see him rubbing his chin on other rabbits' cages to "mark his territory", then flop down in the middle of the room to lounge and supervise! He is also very fond of lettuce. Ringo is so fun to watch, and will tolerate being held, but only for short periods at a time. His personality is best described as cat like: he is fiercely independent; it is not unusual for him to be approached by staff and volunteers, only to turn away and hop off. He accepts affection, but only on his terms. He's got a lot of life left in him; rabbits typically live anywhere from 8 to 10 years. Is Ringo waiting to give his affection and share his antics with you? Come by the Small Animal Room and say hello to him! Ringo was returned to the Animal Refuge League when his owners realized that he is allergic. This sweet year-old Harlequin rabbit is neutered after having quite the litter. Ringo loves to have his head petted and absolutely adores running around the rabbit room, doing the Happy Bunny Dance all the way across the floor! Ringo isnt a cuddly bunny and likes being held on his own terms but he wont sit for too long. Hes extremely independent but immensely beautiful and fun to watch. He has a ton of energy and will need plenty of out-of-cage time. Are you interested in giving Ringo a permanent home? If so, come meet him at the ARL today. Rabbits are very social animals so our rabbits are available as "house rabbits" only. All of our rabbits are spayed/neutered before adoption and have begun their litter box training.
