Bunny Rabbit - Medium - Adult - Female - Rabbit - Kama
Update from the foster home: These big mamas have adapted quite successfully into the life and style of their foster family. They were sent into foster care when they were acting out due to the stress of shelter life. Foster mom says they are just plain awesome if theyre getting their proper amount of exercise and arent being cooped up to deal with all their excess energy. Their appetite is just superb and though theyre being fed proper quality and quantity of diet and getting tons of playtime they havent lost any weight- these ladies are just big-boned giants! Their cage is placed in the kitchen and they get free run of the bunny-proofed room. They will chew things (theyre rabbits) so theyre supplied with ample amounts of toys among which is their favorite, cardboard! Foster mom says theyre finicky about being touched and man-handled but that they come up to spend time with the family at night when its quieter and will take scrumptious treats from you. These lovely ladies are used to elevated noise levels because of the young children of the family. These girls will be able to go home with respectful children, such as theyre accustomed to now. They also reported that you can tell when the girls are hungry because theyll be underfoot hopping around. They also seem to respond to call noises that get their attention and theyll come to you. Let us know if youre interested in these big mamas and well arrange for you to see them! Kama and Drucilla were brought to the Animal Refuge League after being abandoned at the Fryeburg Fair. The person who brought them to us kept them in an outdoor hutch until we had space for them here at the ARL. When the girls came to the ARL they were absolutely terrified of people, shying in the corner of their cage and then running as fast as they could if someone stuck their hand in the cage. After their short stay, with lots of out-of-cage exercise and handling, Kama is really beginning to trust people. Drucilla is still a little nervous but seems to enjoy being held, and is much easier to catch now! The girls will be made available to live in a quiet household with older children. Gentle
