Rat - Medium - Young - Female - Small Furry - Ember Dustin
Description
Ember and Tinder are two sweet, but shy mismarked black hooded females who were born on or about April 1, 2009 . An accidental litter that grew up in the a shelter in Maine, these girls were moved into foster care so they could get the attention they craved! 9/14/09 Tinder was adopted, and now Ember is living in her foster home with Dustin, a neutered boy. They are bonded so we would like them to go home together. We would ask for a regular adoption fee for each one as well as a monetary donation of your choice to help offset our out-of-pocket cost for their surgeries. 9/22/09 Update - Dustin and Ember are now living together in a new foster home in Brockton, Mass. Before they left Olex and Jen wrote this about this pair: Dustin and Ember are neutered and spayed respectively, and have become fast friends since their introduction at the end of August. Dustin is a solid mass of muscle, and has a very sweet disposition. Though he is still learning that humans are trustworthy and fun, Dustin is opening his heart. He will come to the front of the cage, and will easily take treats from your hand. He has never even accidentally nibbled while taking treats he is very cautious and gentle. While out of the cage, Dustin is both excited and nervous. He doesnt like the actual moment of being picked up, but once hes out of the cage, he is interested in the outside world. Dustin will explore anything he can reach, but will run back to you often. He still wants the security of a person around at all times, but we think he has secret dreams of becoming a mountain climber! Dustin is one of the few rats who is 100% consistent about using the litter box, and his favorite foods are Gerber puffs and grapes. Ember is a sweet little girl. She is very confident when Dustin is around, and will often hide behind him when startled. She is a very good climber, and is another one of the few rats who is 100% consistent when using the litter box. When out of the cage, she is a terrific shoulder-rider for short bursts. After about 5 minutes of relaxing on your shoulder, she needs to work off a burst of energy often by a lap around your head! She enjoys tunneling through fabric, including sleeves and the neck hole of your shirt. When Dustin is not around, Ember can be a bit timid when out of the cage. She is calmer when she cant see her cage, but she still prefers having something to hide behind. She is very sweet when taking treats from your hand, and will be your best friend for life if you have yogies on hand! 9/28/09 Update from Fo-Mom Tracey: Dustin is a big clown with his baby face. One look from this big guy and you just melt. Ember is a lovebug. Still a little tentative about being picked up but, like most of them, shes fine once shes out and playing. Another shoulder rider. She runs to the front of the cage, those big ears pointed right at you! Their MRR page: http://mainelyratrescue.org/rattieblog2/?p=308
