12/11/09: Scrappy's groomer is convinced that he is a full blooded Schnauzzer and he sure does look like one . . . especially with his new haircut! Scrappy is a very sweet boy. Doesn't he deserve a forever home of his own . . . could it be your home? 9-15-09 Poor Scrappy has survived so much- he has been saved from a kill shelter, put through eye surgery and now he is still loking for his forever home. He is the sweetest little guy that deserves a chance- can you give him a wonderful home that he so longs for? We are still in debt from his surgery too and thank you for your contributions! Sponsorship Funds are desperately needed for Scrappy Doo. Read on please! 3-23-09 His foster mom in Arkansas says "Scrappy is the sweetest dog! We believe him to be a 2-3 year old schnauzer/poodle mix. He is housetrained, great with kids and absolutely LOVES to go for rides in the car! He would love nothing more than to be adopted by a family where he can receive the love and attention he deserves. Sadly, Scrappy was diagnosed with a genetic eye condition. He was born without tear glands. This went untreated for so long in his previous home that he has lost all vision in his right eye and part of the vision in the left. It is only a matter of time before he will go completely blind. We were thrilled to hear that there is a surgery available to help Scrappy and save his vision, but it is very expensive. The cost for the procedure (the doctor will route part of his salivary gland to his left eye and remove the non-functioning right eye) is 1800.00. We know it is a lot of money, but Scrappy so deserves a chance at a good life. He has had such a rough start, but still manages to wag his tail and jump up in his foster moms arms for kisses. He also stands patiently while his eyes are treated several times a day with drops to help keep him comfortable. He is so grateful to finally have someone to take care of him! Please consider donating to Scrappys surgery fund. It really is his only hope. " 11/22/08: Last month Scrappy was brought in as a very scruffy stray after he wandered up to someone's door. After some grooming, vet care, and finding a wonderfully kind family, Scrappy Doo has finally found a foster home! He is such a doll (as you can see from the pictures). Scrappy just wants to be around people. He is perfectly content to sleep on the couch while his family is in the room. He probably would prefer a family where someone is home to give him the attention he deserves. So far he has gotten along with every dog he encounters. He's basically just an all around great little dog! Because of his eye condition, Scrappy needs to have medicine ("artificial doggy tears") twice daily. Won't you please consider adopting this cutie! **all our pets are in partner shelters in the south unless marked "In Maine" or "In New England".
