Cocker Spaniel - Medium - Adult - Female - Dog - -Miss Wiggles i
Description
We call this sweet little dog Miss Wiggles. Snickers was her previous name in a previous life, she truly is Miss Wiggles, because that's all she does, happy wiggles for everyone. It's my nickname for her and she even responds to it. Miss Wiggles is a four-year-old outrageouslyhappy loving cocker spaniel. She is completely house trained. She is low to a low medium energy, and is currently in doggie boot camp shedding a few extra pounds by eating healthy and getting more exercise. She loves her people!!! She is her foster mothers shadow inside, and outside of the house. She is currently living with three large dogs, and has no problems with them. Originally upon entering foster care, she showed no interest in the other dogs, I do not think she knew how to play with other dogs. Two weeks later she is a very active happy member of the canine crew. She is very proud of herself when she is outside, barking with the big dogs. She has no aggression, nor any fear. She fits in perfectly. She adores the resident cat, who wants nothing to do with her. She has never been socialized to young children and is afraid of them, if cornered or annoyed, she could nip or bite out of fear and has done so once in the past. Currently, she is not living with any children. She has been exposed to a ten-year-old little girl, and was afraid of her. She showed no aggression, and dog savvy older kids would probably be fine (over 13yrs or so). Her next forever home MUST be willing to bathe her once a week and clean her ear canals on a regular basis (every day or every other day). She has spent almost all of her 4 years in severe pain due to unnecessary ear infections that were constant because her ears and skin were not maintained. This is a common trait in cockers and her new home must be prepared to prevent these infections. She must also stay on her hypo allergenic diet, it is critical to keeping her healthy. She has food allergies, which is very common for this breed. She loves to go for walks, and could use some leash manners. If you are looking for a dog that is going to adore you, and want to be your forever friend then Miss Wiggles is the dog for you. She came to us because her former owners were going to euthanize her rather than get her well (ear infections and skin allergies), we took her in as an amazingly smelly, dirty little dog, who was in severe pain from two raging ear infections. Two baths washed away the dirt and about 95% of the smell. She visited a special vet, and he ran an extensive set of blood work on her, to determine if there were any underlying illnesses/diseases that may be causing the ear infections, and reported skin issues. Her blood work came back clear. She was put on a round of heavy antibiotics, a hypoallergenic food, a special ear flush, and a medicated soap. Two days later the change was startling. The ear infection was gone, along with the smell, and she was running around her foster home. A week later she returned to the vet, and he was startled at the level of her recovery. As a preventative measure, the hair in her ear canal was removed. Another week later, and there are no skin, nor ear issues. She is healthy, happy and ready for a forever home prepared to keep her that way.
