9/05/09 Hi, I'm just checking in to say that I had a great summer in spite of the weather. I played lots and lots with my brother. Wrestling is one of my favorite activites and is most fun to do when my mom is trying to talk on the phone. I love my treats and am practicing lying down and shaking hands so I can get even more treats! I'm working on being calmer when I go for rides in the car; I desperately want to go, but I sometimes get scared and cry. I love my crate which my mom calls my house. I sleep in it at night, and of course I stay in it when my mom is not home, but I love it so much that I sometimes choose to go into it to rest when my mom is home. I love playing in the yard which tires me out because I run back and forth and in and out for long periods of time. I have to check on all the neighborhood activites from different vantage points, hence the running. My favorite yard game is tossing and chewing pine chips. I'm a very nice boy. No one has called about me yet. I would be a great fall companion for someone who loves to walk and has patience because I'm still learning about the world. 7-19-09 Hi, I'm writing to tell you more about me. I am COMPLETELY housebroken!! I haven't had an accident in weeks and now even ask to go out in the yard. I know how to sit when asked, and especially when I'm waiting for my breakfast and dinner. I still am very much a puppy who has boundless energy and who loves to play with my brother. I love my toys and am very good at playing fetch. i'm learning to be less fearful and even let some new people pet me now. My goal for the next few weeks is working on riding in a crate in the car so I can go more places. Bryce is my brother but we're not living together. His foster mom anf my foster mom don't think there's any shepherd in us. I'm only about 40 pounds and am black and brown. My hair is shiny and thick, but not long. I might have some hound and/or lab in me. Look at my picture. What do you think? I am a happy, playful boy who deserves a forever home. Could that home be yours? 6-9-09 Hello, is anyone out there? It's me, Buck, again. I want to tell you more about me. I'm still very shy, but I'm a very sweet boy. I am an excellent eater and love to try new things, so I am at a very good weight. I eat very fast, so I have a special bowl that helps me to slow down when I eat. I've made two trips to the groomer's; I was very good both times. My fur is nice and thick and I have a brand new collar that has dolphins on it. I readily go into my crate because it's my safe place. I only rarely have an accident in the house now. I am the sweetest dog and really just want to be with you! I also LOVE other dogs for companions and would love a home with a doggie friend or 2. Please, I have been waiting so long for my home and noone has even inquired about me.... 4/28/09 Hi, It's me, Buck! I just read that my brother's adoption is pending so I am very happy, but it got me thinking..what about me? I'm a dear, sweet boy, at least my foster mom tells me so several times a day. I'm making a little progress toward being more confident. My mom, two canine brothers, and I go lots of places so I can meet people. I am a handsome boy who now weighs 40 pounds. Last week my brothers and I went to the groomer so I am spiffed--I smell good and my fur is very soft. Oh, I absolutely adore my brothers. My brother, Carl, and I wrestle and play tug of war and steal each other's toys. It's lots of fun! I'm available to meet and greet anyone who is interested in loving me forever. I'm in southern Maine waiting for you. 4-12-09 Buck is doing really great at his foster home- he absolutely loves the other dogs and follows his ofster mom everywhere- he really would like to havea person forever and would be extremely loyal. He is about 35 pounds and has the sweetest eyes and is very calm. 2/10/09- Meet Buck. He and his three brothers, Bryan, Braden and Bryce were rescued from a terrible situation down south in January. Buck is approx. 4 months old and is a typical puppy who needs a great home with room to play and plenty of love, attention and training. *All our pets are at partner shelters in the south unless marked "In Maine" or "In New England". We can only bring as many dogs north as we have foster homes. If you're not in the market to adopt a dog, perhaps you can help out by fostering them short-term, getting them ready for their forever home.
