Chesapeake Bay Retriever - Medium - Young - Male - Dog - Bryce-U
Description
8-19-09 Another update from Bryce's foster mom! "Good news with Bryce. A FEMALE friend of mine came up today and had never met Bryce. I brought Bryce out on a leash when we were playing in the pond. Yeah...tempt that boy with something he can NOT resists! He sat by my side for a few minutes watchingeveryone and would actually look right at my friend, Chris. When I went to throw a jolly ball for one of the other dogs, he wanted to go after it. I took the leash off and off he went! He never had ANY problem with Chris after that. She would call his name to get his attention to throw his ball in the pond for him and he responded beautifully. So, right now, it seems to be he's slow to warm up to new females, but will probably be slower with men." 7/19/09 News from Bryce's foster mom! "Bryce is still doing well. We left Bryce in a kennel by himself and he did some digging in the kennel. So, the rest of the days, weve put him in the larger kennel with one of our other dogs. They are pretty well matched and play a lot together. He has to remain in his crate while all the dogs eat and hes really good then, too. He wolfed his food down the first few days, but he quit doing that and actually leaves some in his bowl. He calmly comes out of his crate after sitting for permission, so weve kept up on that. He hasnt had one accident in the house, either. I try to keep him from being so clingy, but its hard. I want to cuddle him on my lap and pet him all the time, but Im trying to encourage him to become more independent. I think he already has made progress since he likes to hang out with some of the dogs. He goes down to the pond quite often and runs around with the dogs. One dog likes him to chase him and another dog and Bryce wrestle a lot. I find he isnt always at my feet like he was in the beginning. Running around has really helped him settle down, too. I think whomever adopts him will really need to have a backyard or be a very active person on almost an every day level. I would guess Bryce to be Chesapeake Bay retriever or chocolate lab crossed with Irish setter. The light colored eyes could come from either retriever, specially the Chesapeake and the coloration from the setter. His hair is more like a setters in its softness. Its obviously not long like a setter, but seems to be an in between length. "
